Overview
The Ming An Insurance Company (China) Limited ("MAC") is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CTIH (formerly known as CIIH). MAC was incorporated in PRC and is mainly engaged in the underwriting of motor, property, liability, marine policies in Mainland China. MAC's paid up capital is RMB991 million.
MAH started its Mainland China operations as early as 1982. In May 2004, The Ming An Insurance Company (Hong Kong) Limited ("MAHK") , obtained approval from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission ("CIRC") to restructure its Shenzhen branch into a wholly owned subsidiary, MAC, which is a property and casualty insurance company incorporated in the PRC with foreign capital and received approval from CIRC to be regulated as a domestic insurance company. This allows MAC full access to the PRC insurance market. MAC received authorization from CIRC as one of the 22 insurers to provide Compulsory Motor Traffic Accident Liability Insurance in the PRC in June 2006. MAC has 19 provincial branches and 91 sub-branches in the PRC. The market share of MAC in the PRC property and casualty insurance market, measured by gross premiums written under PRC GAAP was 0.4% for the year ended 31 December 2009.
